Contemplative practices include Study, Prayer, and Meditation. All the major religious and spiritual traditions have contemplative practices at the core of their teaching. Schools and universities offer contemplative practice as part of traditional academic courses in recognition of the enhanced level of learning and comprehension it offers for personal growth and maturity. AN ESSENTIAL LOJONG

Mind Training / Attitude Transformation

Lojong, translated as ‘mind training, or attitude transformation, is one of the oldest and most honored teachings of Tibetan and other schools of Buddhism. The text consists of 60 pithy Slogans in Seven Parts taking us through the traditions of Buddhist teachings and practices. The Lojong is an essential practice for all students of meditation. The practices contained in the Lojong profoundly deepens a meditation practice as we become more aware of Insights into conditioned assumptions, preferences, and attitudes.

The Lojong Correspondence Course has been offered at no cost to incarcerates since 2008 with over 2,500 participants to date. Lojong students commit to working each of the Seven Parts for two months for a total of fourteen months combining study and meditation for at least two hours a day.
